Day 5: A Truscott Treat!

ree

Day 5 of 18... gone in a flash!

We were back at our lodgings by 3pm this afternoon after what felt like a very short day of walking compared to the intensity of the previous four days.

As we reflect on the day, there are definite highlights that come to mind.

  1. The Truscott Treat! We had the pleasure of the company of Bruce and Alice today, Bruce walking alongside Jac and Jon, and Alice joining Katie and Ailie on the support crew. They are such a blessing to Cranbrook Church and it was such a treat to share their company, as the first additional crew to join us since Richard left three days ago. It gave us a wonderful glimpse into how next week will look as we are joined by more and more people from home. Bring it on! They left buzzing and amazed at the task their vicar has taken on, the very vicar who has played such a key role in them finding a happy home at Cranbrook Church.

  2. After a short walk from St. Anthony's Church, 10am saw the boarding of a small boat to cross the Helford Passage. Despite concerns Jac's face would begin to resemble his fluorescent green t-shirt, the team survived unscathed thanks to Captain Bruce's seafaring supervision!

The day's 'lowlight' came when, having stopped briefly at Swanpool, Jon left his much treasured jumper behind. Lydia, on the other hand, was not so gutted and her response can be heard below!

As we look ahead, your prayers for the coming days are greatly appreciated. Wednesday is set to be a particularly challenging route for the boys - potentially the most challenging day of the trip - in terms of both mileage and elevation. On the same day, we are set to change lodgings. We have been so very blessed by the generosity of Lydia's parents and the space they have offered us has been perfect. We will miss our little home away from home here.

We particularly want to thank The Udder Stuff for their incredible donation today! 10p of sales at their vending machines in Cranbrook will be going towards sponsorship! Thank you so much!

As always, please continue to follow along, sending your messages of support for Jon and Jac, and sharing the donation link with those around you... let's build a church for our community in Cranbrook!

Take a look at some snapshots of Day 5: St. Anthony-in-Meneage to Falmouth, 13.41 miles, 617m ascent and approximately 32,500 steps.
