A whole week of walking done!
After an efficient pack-up of our lodgings with Lydia's parents, we were on the road by 7:30am, sad to leave such a beautiful spot and apprehensive for what today would bring after a tough day yesterday. Our first rainy and chilly start meant Jon ventured away from shorts, starting off in trousers, much to Jac's bemusement!
While Ailie and I sought coffee and a table to catch up on work calls and social media posts, Jon and Jac were quick off the mark today. By the time they met us at the first aid station, they already had 6 miles under their belts and by 11am! With that in mind, they took an extended lunch break 6 miles later knowing the last leg would be a shorter but steeper climb.
Thank you to those that helped with the support crew's crossword while they waited for Jon and Jac to complete today's climb! I don't doubt our social media posts will become more and more chaotic as the trip progresses... stay tuned!
Today we have been thankful for a stronger breeze (an answer to a lot of prayers!), pizza to end the day and a better vibes in the camp! Although the route today was longer and hillier, both walkers have more of a spring in their step and both were quick to spot highlights of their day, while the lowlights seemed fewer and further between... long may that continue!
I hope this post accurately reflects how Jac and Ailie have experienced today. We are in separate lodgings this evening, split across our very generous hosts in the St Austell parish. We have been well fed and look forward to what we hope will be a refreshing sleep ahead of Day 8!
But first, take a look at a few snaps from Day 7 West Portholland to Trenarren, 15.78 miles, 1152m ascent and somewhere around 40,400 steps!

Again a lovely and heartwarming read. Well done guys - you are awesome xx
