Day 8: Not a Calippo in sight!

And that is Day 8 done and dusted, with just 10 days left to go!
We got off to a bit of a chaotic start this morning. A shorter drive to the day's start point afforded us the luxury of a slower morning, but catching up after being in separate lodgings and finding blister plasters and t-shirts in the right size in cars fit to burst delayed us slightly!
The boys eventually kicked off at 9am, our latest start so far, with a video call assembly with St. Martin's, an early highlight of today! After a literal sprint to Boots for Compeed and toe cushions, the support crew were ready to meet Jon and Jac at another impromptu aid station at Carlyon Bay, decided upon due to the heat today. It was here that the lovely Liz K had arranged for some snacks to be delivered for the boys, a much welcomed treat since they've seen off the last of the stash of goodies kindly donated before we set off on this trip! Thank you Liz!
The day's lunch stop saw a definite upgrade from the usual packed lunches! Bacon sandwiches from the beachside restaurant at Polkerris became definite highlight for the boys, inspiring a touch of lunchtime hilarity... despite the lack of Calippos! This highlight was short lived when the post-lunch hills began again! A beautiful ferry ride at Fowey gave the boys a chance to rest their feet and digest their bacon butties this afternoon before a final climb to the day's end point. All in all, another successful day!
Before bed, I've taken to reading over the latest couple of blog posts to help me reflect on where we are in the trip and how things are really going. When doing so last night, it was glaringly obvious to me how God has been working and answering our prayers for LE2CB. The nerves (and even dread!) ahead of Wednesday quickly turned to whoops of joy as Jac and Jon finished their walk much earlier than planned, and the potential logistical mountain facing us quickly turned into a minor speed bump along the way. God is good and hears our prayers, and we are so so grateful.
As we head towards our 9th day on the road (or path!) we find it hard to believe we're almost halfway through this crazy adventure and we look forward to sharing it with more and more familiar faces along the way in the coming 10 days.
A slightly longer post from us today as time allowed (these boys don't seem to be slowing down yet!!), but we're now off to find our Liskeard home, where we will be for the next three nights. We are so so grateful to Rachel and Graham and Anthony and Pauline for so generously opening their homes to us for the night last night. It was great to connect with them, share a meal together and compare New Wine stories and we look forward to meeting another generous host this evening!
While we settle down for the night, don't forget to grab a milkshake from The Udder Stuff vending machine found in the Cranberry Farm car park. They have been so kind in offering to donate 10p from every sale made at this site this week to the building of Cranbrook Church.
As always, please send encouragement in Jon and Jac's direction, continue to pray and share the donation link (cranbrookchurch.org/jon) and enjoy the following snippets of Day 8: Trenarren to some random car park in the middle of nowhere!! (Between Polruan and Pencarrow Head).
