Day 9: Woah, we're halfway there!

ree

9 days down, just 9 to go and what an adventure so far!

The boys got off to a smooth start this morning, walking over six miles before their first aid station at Talland Bay, where we had the absolute joy of welcoming Jac's mum, Bev and her partner, Rich to team LE2CB. And, wow, did they come prepared! They arrived in their campervan armed with baked goods and sausage rolls courtesy of Nanny and Bampi, along with mugs of hot tea and coffee, setting the support crew bar very high indeed for the remaining 9 days of the trip... no pressure!

Bev and Rich joined the boys for a section of their walk today and although today was another hot day, they kept good time. Lunchtime took the form of a shorter stop today with a quick sprint up the hill out of Millendreath to get signal in time for a video call with the St. Martin's Year 6s! This was a lovely way for the boys to kick off their afternoon, especially as the class were asking all the important questions, such as how the boys respond to the call of Mother Nature on the cliff top!

This evening, we have enjoyed spaghetti meatballs and profiteroles generously prepared by Bev, and have loved seeing the boost Bev and Rich have given the boys as they head into the latter half their mission, where maybe they'll find a Callipo!

Despite these many highlights, the most important update from today is the message Jon recorded after passing the halfway mark. His short video serves as a great reminder for us all about why he's doing this crazy thing!

So, as we wind down from such a fun-filled evening, why not take a look at Jon's halfway update as well as some snaps from Day 9: Lantic Bay Car Park to Seaton (definitely not the Devon one!), 14.91 miles, 900m ascent and 37,800 steps.

On Day 9 of 18, here's a reminder of why we're here

A very Welsh welcome at Aid Station 1!
